This week’s acupuncture blog is inspired by a testimonial received from a patient following a recent accident abroad:
“I had travelled to London on vacation several days after an automobile accident involving me as a passenger. I had been of several minds whether to cancel the trip altogether as I had injured my foot, right hip and was experiencing pain in my lower back and neck. It was far from an easy decision to continue with my plans but nevertheless, I did.
Whilst staying with friends in London, I was introduced to Monica (a holistic health practitioner) who suggested I try acupuncture to help with my constant pain and discomfort. She did not promise an immediate cure, not did she promise I would be able to walk unaided without pain during my stay. Her immediate concern was for my wellbeing and to be able to reduce my obvious discomfort and enjoy the most of my vacation.
I had never tried nor even considered acupuncture for any medical problems I had experienced in the past, I thought the whole idea was purely a placebo effect and perhaps even considered its practitioners as ‘quacks’. The very idea of having needles entering my skin at various points was abhorrent to me and completely contrary to my ideas of how Western medicine should be.
Monica explained that acupuncture released energy throughout various nerves in my body and persuaded me to try a session despite my fears. Her manner was tranquil and serene and she had an obvious and determined desire to help me feel better not only about my pain and discomfort but about my attitude to acupuncture.
I had many sessions with her and I have to honestly admit that throughout each one, she carefully inserted the needles and although I would immediate feel some pain, it quickly disappeared as a feeling of warmth spread over my body and I became completely relaxed in her healing hands.
She did not cure my problem but she certainly made my stay far more enjoyable in London as she lessened the pain for me and her positive energy has stayed with me since I returned overseas. I have continued with acupuncture treatments at home thanks to her inner strength, her focus, determination and sincere desire to help. I am now convinced that acupuncture definitely has a well deserved place in the treatment of various ailments and I, for one, have no hesitation in expressing my thoughts and persuading others to try this method. It offers no harm, no side effects and can only help with the healing process.
My sincere gratitude go to Monica….may she be blessed with the blessings she bestows on others.” Read more about benefits of acupuncture.
