Are your feet hurting? Acupuncture for painful feet is a time-tested therapy.
A Massage may help! Here are a few cases of people I have helped.
It has been an interesting start to the summer. I have been treating feet. No I don’t do reflexology, but I do work on feet. Some conditions I treat specifically are arthritis, (painful, swollen and stiff feet and ankle joints), plantar fasciitis, tired and achy feet. Treatment includes specifically deep tissue massage, sports and remedial and tuina massage at various pressure points. Swelling of feet also is another thing that keeps needing attention, perhaps due to the hot weather. That is when manual lymphatic drainage comes in.
Like any massage therapist, I love the variety we are presented with and the pleasure that comes when we are able to help. Aches and pains, in various areas are common but finding the source and treating the cause can be interesting detective work! Feet need to be in good shape or the entire body alignment can get out of whack.
I had a 61 year-old gentleman who has been in pain on the instep of particularly the left foot since last summer. The cause was going for a walk with flip flops during a stony hike. I was quite surprised he had lived in pain since! After his first session, he was 60% better and for the first time in 10 months he had not taken any painkillers. He is much improved after 3 sessions and will come back for more treatments after the summer. He now knows the importance of good footwear.
My other happy customer was a 51 year-old with arthritis in the feet for the past 3 years. On examination, her mobility was quite restricted with tightness and pain in the legs and lower back. She needed really deep work to loosen up the stiffness and improve mobility in the ankle joint. After the first session, there was more mobility and flexibility and less pain in the feet and ankle joint. She plans to come regularly once a month to keep it supple.
Swelling of the feet is another common condition I treat, but it is more so this time of year. I had a lady come to me last summer with noticeably swollen feet and wanted to try manual lymphatic drainage to see if the swelling would subside. She had 4 sessions and the swelling disappeared! She no doubt had much lighter and less heavy legs. She only came in last week with hardly any swelling but wanted a session anyway.
Our feet carry us everywhere and a good massage will keep them supple, improve mobility and keep them stress and pain free.
