This comes on the back of the London marathon yesterday. I have been helping patients/athletes to help their injuries and performance levels with acupuncture, sports and remedial massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release massage and manual lymphatic drainage massage.
As a first aider with St. John’s Ambulance, I was volunteering at the 21 mile mark at the London Marathon, and towards the end of the course. It was not easy for the runners although the end is so close. Cramps, dehydration, fatigue, hypothermia, aches and pains to name just a few symptoms we saw at the first aid hub.
There was a spell, where we had the absolute pleasure of just observing the runners. Focus is the word that comes to mind. We could see the focus in their eyes to reach the end. That was their aim. Whether it was to complete the run in less than 3 hours or raising money for a charity, whatever it may have been, there was an aim and there was a purpose. There was a mission to accomplish. There was determination and pure will power to get them through. And hats off to them!
No doubt many were struggling. But again, who does not struggle in some aspect of our lives? I have returned from yesterday with this mantra almost in my head, YOU CAN DO IT!
We all can do it. We just need to either work out how or ask for help.
To conclude, I would like to share with you this short message emailed to me today.
Taking part in the game
Happiness involves taking part in the game of life, not standing on the edge of things frowning.
Have a lovely week!
